Sundargarh District Collector Visits Lahunipara Block, Inspects Public Welfare Projects
Sundargarh District Collector Dr. Parag H. Gavali took stock of the progress of various public welfare projects in Lahunipara block during a field visit on Monday. He held interaction with the beneficiaries and the concerned departmental officials about the performance of these projects.
Dr Gavali visited the water treatment plant at Lalei in Lahunipara block from where drinking water is being supplied to the residents of Lahunipara, Gurundia and Koira blocks under the Mega Piped Water Project. The Collector witnessed the entire filtration process of the river water before it is supplied to the households.
The Collector visited the Paudi Bhuyan PVTG (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group) area in the block and saw the infrastructural work of a Govt Primary School at Ranja village. He spoke to the students and teachers in order to get first hand information about the status of studies at the institution.
Dr. Gavali also visited the Information Centre, which has been constructed with aid from the Paudi Bhuyan Development Agency (PBDA), various roads and culverts built for the convenience of the general public. He held interaction with the residents to know about the issues and problems felt by them.
He then visited the railway siding at the Barsuan mining area and inquired with the mining and construction workers about the use of ‘Safety Kits’ which have been provided to them by the District Administration. He also sought their opinion about the additional measures that can be taken for the safety of the workers.
During the tour of the block, Dr. Gavali saw the infrastructure at the Lahunipara Community Health Centre (CHC). He visited the separate wards meant for male and female patients and inspected the arrangements for medical waste management. He also took stock of the advanced facilities available at the Integrated Physiotherapy Centre at the CHC. He issued the necessary directions to refer patients in need of robotics physiotherapy or artificial limb transplantation to the Advanced Rehabilitation Centre (ARC), Sundargarh.
To ensure safe motherhood, a number of Maa Gruha have been built in the hard-to-reach areas of the district. The Collector visited the Maa Gruha (Maternity Waiting Home) at Poigaon and inquired about the various facilities available for the inmates during pregnancy and post-delivery.
The Collector visited the smart classroom, advanced science lab, library and computer lab at the Khuntgaon government high school which has been transformed under the state Govt’s 5T initiative. He interacted with the students and the teachers about the benefits of the advanced infrastructure in shaping the future of the students.
ZP CDO&EO Bhairab Singh Patel, Dy Chairman ZP Kamal Lakra, Sub Collector Bonai Suranjan Sahoo, Project Administrator (PA) ITDA Lalat Kumar Luha, BDO Lahunipara Dhanai Charan Tudu, senior DMF and OMBADC officials accompanied the Collector during the visit.
