Sundargarh Collector Reviews Public Welfare Projects In Koira Block

Oversees Construction of Truck Terminal, Market Yard & Dormitory For Mining Workers

Sundargarh District Collector Dr. Parag H Gavali reviewed the progress of various projects during his field visit to Koira block on Sunday. He directed the concerned local officials to complete the under-construction projects well within deadlines.

Dr. Gavali inspected the Truck Terminal, Market Yard, Playground and Dormitory for mining workers which are being constructed in the block at present. He also oversaw the ITI institute and Sudakshya centre in the locality.  

Koira block is one of the major mining areas in the state. A modern terminal is being constructed at Tensa to facilitate the parking of around 200 trucks engaged in the transportation of minerals. Canteen, garage and toilets are being made at the terminal for the convenience of the truck drivers and others. The Collector inspected the construction of all these facilities.   

Dr. Gavali later oversaw the construction of the playground at Kadodiha. Four spectators’ galleries, badminton and volleyball courts are being constructed at the project.  

For enhancing livelihood of farmers, an Advanced Market Yard and godown are being constructed at Koira. The Collector held discussion with officials of the Regulatory Market Committee (RMC) on ways the godown would help in the storage of the produce of local farmers and their sale at the new Market Yard.

For the skill development of youth in the locality, an ITI has been set up at Koira where vocational training sessions would start soon. The Collector visited the institute and saw the temporary hostel chosen for the lodging of the students and other construction works under progress. He enquired about a host of subjects with the institute authorities.

The Sudakshya programme is currently underway to offer employment oriented coaching to the educated youth in Sundargarh district. The Collector visited the Sudakshya centre at Koira on Sunday and discussed the coaching facilities with the students. He also enquired about the various services provided to the differently abled and general patients at the Integrated Physiotherapy Unit, located on the Community Health Centre campus at Koira.

The construction of a temporary dormitory for mining workers from different areas in Koira block is presently underway. The Collector reviewed the progress of the project which would accommodate around 1,000 workers on completion.

Bonai Sub-Collector Shri Suranjan Kumar Sahoo, Regional Manager OMC Shri Prashanta Kumar Sahoo, Chairman Koira block Shri Suresh Naik, ZP member Shri Ashok Naik, BDO Koira Pallabirani Raj, Tehsildar Shri D Subhadarshi Joshi, Tensa Sarpanch Ms. Anita Prusty along with senior officials of DMF and various other departments accompanied the Collector during the visit.

The Sundargarh District Mineral Foundation (DMF) is providing financial support for the construction of the Truck Terminal, temporary Dormitory for mining workers and the Market Yard and godown for farmers. Similarly, ‘Dakshata’ is among the various on-going skill development programmes in Sundargarh district which are financially aided by the DMF.
